Flag burning Free Speech or not?

After reading this, I just wondered what each of you thought about the right to burn the American Flag. Personally, I don't see how it is considered under the Freedom of Speech. The flag is a national symbol, and I think you should be punished for burning it unless it is to properly dispose of the flag. I think burning the flag is just the same as spray painting the Washiington Monument or something.

What are your all's opinions?

It's more than likely considered freedom of speech, but I still think that those who do it should be punished.

If they dislike this country enough to burn the flag, surely they can move somewhere else without a problem. Beat their [censored] to Mexico or somewhere.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?

Many men fought and died to uphold those freedoms expressed by that flag, one is freedom of speech. Does or is the freedom of religion more important? Or Vice Versa? Does that flag represent freedom, hope and a new life? Does that flag represent a history of death, genocide, and theft? Does that flag represent the greatest freedom in the world to choose on your own without reprocussion? (sp). Or does that flag mean allegence with an age old country to wars that time has forgotten and the meaning is honestly lost. What does it mean, (obsenity claims are not the case, the debate of what is obscene could rage on and take different turns, such as the destruction of the Quran or the Bible give merit to the obsenity claim, if your Jewish, neither really affects you, yet all 3 are still Americans).

It cant be decided as a burn or no burn case, when its burnt, its burnt in disgust of policy, belief, idea or protest. What then, to some the American presidential office holds the same ideas of that flag, the embodiment of everything American as we elect, surve under his direct command (the whole commander and cheif thing back to ole George Washington) yet we see it on a constant basis especially on this bored, the burning of that office and all it stands for, who or when is their a vote for that.

Then go ahead and burn that flag, that many a person fought under, and for, to give you the right to burn it.
You have the right.
But think of the men and women who fought and died to give you the right.
To me you burn it.
You totally disrespect them and all they fought for.
Which you know. We don't respect anything any more any way.
It's the way some were raised. No pride, No regard for others and No Da** Respect.
But Burn It. Then Remember Why You Have The Rights You Have.

Before someone puts the flame to that flag then they need to think about George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, etc. and what they did to make this country so. If you want to use freedom of speech then don't disrespect those men who are the reason you have that right by burning the flag.

Flag burning is a poor way to thank these men. The flag still stands for freedom. Burning it burns what it stands for.

Those aren't my words; they're the words of the people that burn the flag. They're practically saying "shoot me" by committing such a ridiculous and disrespectful act.
